A treatment for Helen Bell’s established clients, Therapeutic Massage is the mobilisation of soft tissue to help restore normal systemic and biomechanical/functional use. Therapeutic Massage can help in the treatment of most musculoskeletal and associated problems, and regular treatment improves circulatory functioning and promotes flexibility in the body.
Therapeutic Massage can be either stimulating or soothing, depending on the technique, depth and speed. It is both safe and effective and helps to create balance and harmony from within.
Today, given the high stress levels which many people experience, Therapeutic Massage is valued not simply as a deeply relaxing therapy, but also as a way to improve the quality of one’s life.
Although Therapeutic Massage is not recommended for lymphoedema sufferers, a client will sometimes say they “really need a good shoulder rub”. That’s where Helen’s skills in MLD come to the fore: she is able to decide on the appropriate level of therapeutic touch that a lymphoedema client can receive, and then end the treatment with directional manual lymphatic drainage.
